Yesterday I attempted to pay Vidahost for the following year. The notice I had received was for the Domain name due to expire the 6th. I wanted to be able to pay hosting and domain at the same time. I used to do it that way but last year a mistake was made that the domain hadn't been paid. Talk about hustle to keep MizBee.
They are very quick to respond, I'm not dissatisfied with them. They did an invoice to combine both and it gave the date as 12/5/2008. Well guess who did NOT remember that they put the day first? So I fired off a dumb question about December. *groan*.
But worse is the fact that they don't have a translation for our monetary system and now Paypal doesn't send the receipt with it. I must now wait a month for our credit card statement to come in to see how badly the exchange rate has dug into our pocketbook.
I hate change more every day!
I trotted off this morning to check out Microsoft's World Telescope. Looks like a fantastic program. I didn't download it because I didn't understand the network that they said I would need on my computer. Then I spied the words some ISP's may charge a long distant fee. Uh no thanks.
Yesterday after I saw them coming down the street I hurried to gather up the limbs Tony was cutting while Wil held the ladder.
I dumped them on the neighbor's pile instead of going around the corner for our very little pile. A pile I bet they don't see because it is so small.
These two men were the only ones I watched. The guy on the shovel would get down and move that truck while the other guy drove the second truck. I learned later there was a third man but he had taken a load to the landfill.
They have this stuff down pat and all of that mess was pitchforked right up off the road and into the truck.
As I stood taking pictures I watched this idiot lady come by me and pretend she was in England and headed to drive around them.
I didn't miss a beat and hollered "you aren't supposed to do that".
I guess she either heard me or decided her car wasn't going to fit. She backed up and turned around.
Wil laughed at me because I said if I was the guy in the bucket seat and someone did that I would accidently over shoot the truck. The driver told me this is one thing that makes their job so dangerous. He also thanked me.
Speaking of thanking. While resting in the chaise reading a school kid came up to the fence and asked if I knew what time it was. I told him I would find out for him. Now he could see I had a splint on my leg. I let him know and I didn't hear a thanks as he turned back the way he came. Is my hearing that bad? Or has he never been taught? I did say "You're welcome" as he headed off. :-)
I am polite to all those kids going down the easement. Some of the young girls seem to appreciate a smile and a Hi. One day I ask a guy to hand me a piece of trash, and he did. Saved a lot of walking for me.
The City Forrester returned my call. Great but I wish the news was. Yes the Chinese Tallow is going to come down. That will be next year. But he said Chinese Pistache is an invasive tree. Yes he knew the 'experts' were advising it as a good tree years ago. The Afghan Pine isn't such a great tree because when it gives up it will just fall over.
He asked me to send him some pictures and he may be able to advise condition on the pine and pistache by looking at them. He wasn't that concerned I had them closer than they should be.
He told me the birds would not have planted the Mt. Laurel but not to worry over it under the electric line because it is a line friendly tree. Maybe someone best tell the pruners for CPS though.
I did learn the 'experts' would find species that would grow here successfully and tell folks about them, never considering or even knowing if it was a good idea. So that is how a lot of species get introduced to an area. Only to learn later on it was not a good idea. Wish they would of learned that before. I don't want to lose my pistache.
He told me to come to the Spring Fling near us next month and he will help me find good trees to replace these. They will be giving away FREE trees. Yeah about a foot high and maybe I'll have shade by the time I hit 80.
So my advise to homeowners here, check with a forrester before buying your trees!
If you go over to Flickr you can see my attempt at hummingbird shots. I moved the chair and the little bums didn't come back. Of course it was getting dark.
I was thinking about using Uncle George's rebate to buy a year at Flickr. Well last night I couldn't get 3 pictures to load. I went in this morning and deleted the duplicates. :-(
Today I am to meet Janie for lunch and go to a movie. There goes the pool.
